Friday 12th July

Legend of Ska

Arthur Kay & The Originals

+ Support Act

They are calling it a day and this gig is their way of thanking their loyal fans

Arthur Kay and the originals were formed in December 1979 after the success of their first single Ska Wars.

Arthur Kay was a teenager in the 1960s where he first heard Ska on the streets of Lambeth, South London.

The first gig the Originals played was the Cabin Youth Club Herne Bay in 1980 to a group of loyal youngsters who have stuck with the band ever since.

---------------

The Originals were the first ever Ska band in East Kent and really hit the spotlight ten years later when their album Rare 'N' Tastey was released on Skank Records, they released a second album called Sparkes of Inspiration. The songs from both albums form the core of the band set.

The band went on to become a top international Ska band going down a storm everywhere.

The peak of the bands career was when they became Judge Dreads backing band which sadly ended when Judge Dread died on the stage of The Penny Theatre on March 13th 1998.

---------------

It was a combination of the loss of a great friend and other problems in the band which caused the band to fold at that time.

However they returned with a one off gig at the Glastonbury Festival in 2002 and officially reformed for Arthur's 60th birthday for a sell out gig at the Horsebridge Centre.

---------------

Arthur Has carried on since then Performing with Top German Ska band The Clerks as Arthur Kay and The Clerks and has just come back from a sold out tour of Japan With Beat Bahnhof

---------------

Now Back with The Originals are already Booked at The London International Ska Festival 2020

The gig is to thank their loyal Herne Bay fans and should be a great night!
